Happy 4th Of July!!

The 4th of July is often the kick off party to summer vacation.  Warm weather, good food, spending time with friends and family - there's just something about a national holiday in the middle of the week that puts everyone in a good mood.  Whether your planning to attending a parade, hosting a cookout or spending at day on the water, make sure you wear your patriotic colors and enjoy the beautiful day!

Bathroom Inspiration

My boyfirend and I rent a Cape Cod style two bedroom house just outside of Providence.  The master runs the length of the house and serves as a bedroom, sitting area and his closet area.  The second bedroom we've converted into my closet, (look for future post) because lets face it - some things you just don't mix!  We do pretty well but recently its been difficult sharing our narrow full bath.  I'm not sure you can even consider it a "full" bath as its more like a 3/4 bath.
Anyways, our recent twister-toothbrushing has me dreaming of a large bath that can serve both our space and functionality needs while providing spa like relaxation.  Here are some of my light filled favorites found on House Beautiful and collected from Pinterest.

I love the rustic french feel of this washroom.

The agate in this shower is so unique its like artwork.  I like that the designer used the blue tones carried through the floor accents and the honey wood cabinetry gives the room a warm feel.

So many great things going on in this inset tub.  Built-in shelves, roman shade and great floor tiles.

This bath featured in House Beautiful caught my eye because of the use of blue tiling along the upper fifth of the wall.  Again the blue hue with the warm wood and white makes a great impact.

New Year Resolutions

1.  Spend more time in Rhode Island.
I'm just now feeling settled after being here a year.  The past six months have been lots of traveling, so my goal for 2013 is to enjoy time in my home state and spend more time with the girls.

2.  Take time to persue my happiness.
With life's busy schedule its easy to put yourself last on the list.

3.  Blog More
Post on a schedule and take time to read others.  It makes me happy.

4.  Stay fresh, organized and energized.

5.  Plan for the NOW.
My job is to prep, plan and orchestrate events months in advance.  In 2013, I'd like to plan for the NOW.

Remebering Anne.

This Charlotte born designer inspired my love of residential design. She taught me texture, China Seas, how to pronounce Ikat, and the love of a good linen.

Love life. Follow your passions, love your family and do all things with strength and grace.

You will be greatly missed.

A Farmhouse Kitchen

With the leaves beginning to change and cool air mornings, its undeniable that fall is approaching.  This time of year calls for hot cider, fall boots and cozy family dinners.  Here are some of my favorite country modern kitchens that evoke a farmhouse equestrian feel perfect for fall.

 Barefoot Contessa's Farmhouse Kitchen

The metal counterstools and dark wood floors help give the white beadboard kitchen a country feel.  Fresh Cut branches help fill up the space and draw attention to the pitched ceiling.

I love the wheatgrass and potted natural herbs in this kitchen.  The mix of wood tones and textures creates a layered well lived look.
